Wedding couples of 2014
A simply wonderful year of weddings that I want to relive with each individual couple whose wedding I was lucky enough to photograph in 2014.
I moved back to England in May and started with Camilla & Rohan’s wedding in Cheshire. On an English summer day in the middle of the middle of the countryside. I arrived early and spent the morning capturing the wonderful moments from dogs running around the garden to last moment decorations. Then of course the hair, make up and gorgeous dresses. They left the church in style on a red tractor and trailer. The reception was in a beautiful marquee on the lawn and the flowers were done by Rohan’s brother from Pinstripes & Peonies. See more photos of their wedding here.
Dave & Clare were married at the Inn on the Lake in the Lake District. An intimate midweek wedding including a boat ride around the lake Ullswater. There was the most wonderful tree in the garden that has to be one of my favouite spots to have photographed a couple. More photos of their wedding to be found earlier on my blog.
The summer continued with a Cumbrian wedding on midsummers day in the beautiful little church in Warcop. The bride walked through the fields from her house, followed by her bridesmaids in blue down to the church. The reception continued with tea in the garden, champagne and then in the evening country dancing & Asian inspired food. The flowers were done by the wonderfully talented Caro Dickinsen.
I then headed up to Scotland at the end of June for a wedding in Edinburgh which included a walk on the hills, a dog as the maid of honour, scottish reeling and of course lots of bagpipe playing! Scotland has tremendous light including black skies with rays of sunshine coming through, it definitely made for some inspiring moments.
Lauriane & Emilie were married at the end of august just outside of Paris. Gay marriage has only recently become legal in France so it really was a special day for them both as well as an historical moment. They were like two nymphs in a garden and I felt like I was on a Vogue fashion shoot rather than a wedding. The day was very relaxed with as many children running around as adults enjoying themselves, there was a live band, delicious food and a photo studio. The DIY creations were exceptional! More photos to be found here.
The beginning of September brought me to Hampshire and I discovered a part of England I had never been to before. Roz was a fantastically relaxed bride doing all the bridesmaids hair before doing her own too! At sunset we caught the golden light up on a hill nearby with wonderful rolling countryside all around. The wedding was filled with music, laughter and fun. More photos here.
A Chilean and English wedding in Wales. I met Hattie & Corcho initially in Kensington Gardens to do some engagement photos and I knew their wedding was going to rememberable. They are a wonderfully fun and happy couple and it was a pleasure to be there. I particularly loved all of the paraffin lamps dotted around in the trees, very romantic! They now live in Chile and are about to put on a second wedding over there.
Back to France for a Parisian wedding at the end of September. The service was in the 5th arrondissement in the beautiful church of Saint-Médard. We then went on to the reception in the park Buttes de Chaumont. Again it was a wonderful mix of cultures as James is from Canada and Edith is French, my bilingual skills were needed! I also want to mention Edith’s dress which was beautifully made by Stephanie Wolff.
My year finished just before Christmas with Fraser and Helen’s wedding in London. They were married in Mayfair and had the reception in Kings cross St Pancras. It felt strange being there and not getting a Eurostar!
It has been the most wonderful year with so many beautiful brides and dashing grooms. I feel very lucky to do what I do. London is an exciting new city to live in and I look forward to the weddings already booked (and of course the un booked as well) that are happening in 2015.
