Beatrice Hasell-McCosh Art
My talented sister Beatrice studied painting at Leith art school in Edinburgh. She now paints full time between Cumbria and London. Here in her studio in Cumbria she is surrounded by so many interesting little objects – postcards, glow in the dark stars, a bag of bulbs labelled “2kg of cheerfulness”, a little wooden horses and a turkish slipper hanging on the wall. Her turps is kept in an old marmite jar and her dog Tara sits nearby keeping a watchful eye on proceedings. When painting she holds an array of brushes in her hand and will create wonderful textures with the oil paint.
After Edinburgh she spent some time in Russia and was influenced by the majestic architecture but of course the rugged and often wild landscape of the Lake District has also been of great importance to her as well. She is currently working on a commission, painting in a hidden valley above Ullswater. Weather depending she will go as often as possible followed by the ever willing and faithful Tara.
